What Size is Right For Me?

Did you know the only difference in measurements between 10-frame and 8-frame boxes is the width? The 8-frame equipment is narrower than the 10-frame one, and the former is only sometimes compatible with other 8-frame equipment, as dimensions vary slightly by manufacturers. The 10-frame equipment offers more space for brood and honey production.

There are many factors to consider when selecting your frame size; however, it typically comes down to the weight of your hive filled with honey. As a general guide, the approximate weight for an 8-frame box can range from 32 lbs for a shallow box, 40 lbs for a medium box, and 64 lbs for a deep box. On the other hand, the approximate weight for a 10-frame box can range from 40 lbs for a shallow box, 50 lbs for a medium box, and 80 lbs for a deep box.

To qualify for the pre-order discount, your order must be placed and paid for by November 15. We plan to ship in mid-February.
